Sources say she may have been in contact with Nasir through Facebook before her visit. Notably, her husband Karnail Singh has been living in England for nearly 15 years.
Her passport, issued in January 2024 by the Jalandhar Regional Passport Office, lists “Malout, Muktsar” as her permanent address and mentions only her father’s name. Reports also suggest discrepancies in her immigration forms, including errors in citizenship and passport details.
Indian security agencies and Punjab Police are now jointly investigating whether Sarbjit’s decision to stay in Pakistan was voluntary or influenced by other factors.
