Today on our 2006 Chrysler Pacifica, we're going to install the draw tight hitch, part number 75522. First, will be to remove the spare tire before you can begin installation. We've already gone and done that. Our next step will be put a safety strap under the exhaust as we'll need to lower it, but we don't want it to fall too far and damage the exhaust, so using a safety strap will help hold the exhaust. Then to remove the exhaust, we're going to remove the rubber isolators, easiest way to do this is to spray each isolator with a little spray lubricant and simply pry it off the metal stud of the muffler. Now we can use our safety strap to lower the exhaust to give us access to the frame.

Next we'll remove the forward most 12 millimeter bolt which attaches the bumper bracket to the frame; we've got one on each side. On this application, there's a wiring harness connector that's going to be in the way when we put our hitch in place. We're going to go ahead and temporarily remove this connector and then we'll reattach it later. Using a flat bladed screw driver or a trim panel tool, we'll let it get underneath the connector and pry it out from the front. Next, taking our pull wire from our install kit--we're going to use it to go through our forward most attachment point and feed it out to the access hole on the frame.

Now we're going to slide our block onto our pull wire and then throw it on our carriage bolt. I'll drop my block in the frame first, and then carriage bolt, and pull them both into position. Then we can go ahead and remove the pull wire and repeat the same process on the passenger side. Now with our carriage bolts in place, we're ready to go in and put out hitch up. It's a good idea to get an extra set of hands to help you hold the hitch while you install your fasteners.

We'll be installing the forward most fasteners first smashing a flat washer in-between the hitch and the frame, securing it with a conical tooth washer and a nut. For the rear fastener and the frame, which will be the same attachment point that we removed the 12 millimeter nut for, we'll install a new conical tooth washer, with the teeth of the washer facing the hitch, and a new 12 millimeter bolt. Quick tech tip, after you get your holes on the side of the frame lined up, I'm just going to go ahead and snug up the hitch to the frame to hold it in place. This will assist when we fish wire our carriage bolts into position. So go through our attachment point and out the excess whole in the bottom of the frame.

Then we can slide on our block and throw out on our carriage bolt just as we did earlier. Now with our block and bolt in the frame, we'll go ahead and pull them into position. To secure the carriage bolt, we'll be using a split lock washer and a half inch nut. Now we can go ahead and repeat the same process for the other three side attachment points. Now with all our fasteners installed, we can go ahead and tighten them down. Now with all our fasteners tightened up, we'll go ahead thwart the specifications as indicated in the instruction. Now with all our fasteners thwarted to specification, we're going to go ahead and reinstall the exhaust. We're going to remove our safety strap, one last step sends the hitch and that covers up where our wiring harness was mounted, we're going to go ahead and take a black zip tie and secure it up underneath the vehicle. So just take a pair of side cutters and cut off the excess from our zip tie, and then we can reinstall the spare tire, and that'll complete the installation of our draw tight hitch, part number 75522, on our 2006 Chrysler Pacifica. .
