With the explosion of growth in the personal computer and network industries, there came a need for a user-friendly way to allow people to exchange information without having to be computer science majors. The Network Operating System was a result of this need. A Network Operating System, or NOS, is the software that manages the relationship between network resources and users.

There are two primary parts to the NOS - A the client and the server.
The server is just a powerful PC where the network resources reside. The client is software that is installed on each PC in the network. The NOS client allows users to access network resources.
The NOS made access to shared resources more user-friendly. This helped networks grow from an optional feature for large companies to what is considered a requirement today. #ComputerNetworks #Internet #Ethernet
