Micah McGuire, a five-year-old boy from Ashville, Ohio, brought joy to his family when he said his name, and the names of family members, for the first time.

As an autistic child, Micah was considered to be non-verbal until a few weeks ago when he overcame all expectations and said names for the first time.

“He has spoken a few words before, but it was all once in a blue moon, always random and he would never do it again,” his mother, Haley McGuire, told Storyful.

She added, “He is now repeating almost everything we ask, helping to sing songs with Mommy, and starting to repeat sentences like ‘More, please’ and, ‘I love you.’”

“We are over the moon as Micah as officially gone from non-verbal autism to pre-verbal autism.”
