Here's some gameplay on the PC version of Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast using the Outrun 2 FXT mod created by Howard Casto from the BYOAC forum. The main benefit of this is it allows you to play the game with force feedback using a racing wheel and it also sorts out the X axis deadzone in the wheel (which in the unmodded version of the PC game was huuuuge as it hadn't been optimised for wheels and assumed everyone was playing with the tiny X axis of a joypad). This is also with the bloom effect 'fixed' in the PC version. What am I talking about? See here:

Sumo digital did such a great job with the original Xbox version and the later console ports of Coast 2 Coast, but sadly there's a real whiff of halfassed-ness about the PC version, with the lack of rumble effects for pads, no native FFB effects or wheel optimisation and the fact the bloom effects didn't work because they were in the wrong folder in the game (!). Also, with the exception of the Japanese PS2 version of the game, all the console versions of Coast 2 Coast were missing the OR2SP end goal animations (Volcano erupting, Shuttle taking off ). I mean how hard would it've been to add those into the PC version? Sure, it doesn't affect the gameplay, but for those people who really want an authentic arcade experience it's little things like that, that can make you feel like the developer has just gone that little extra 110%.

At least thanks to the efforts of people like Howard C. and also another BYOAC member called italospain (who discovered how to get the bloom working) it feels like we've now got the game we should've had in the first place.
