I made a few points in this video about aging, 3 valve BBb tubas, and that you can play (even chromatically although I only demonstrate a Bb scale) below the Bass Clef with only 3 valves. Key points are making the instrument comfortable for you to play and finding the right mouthpiece for the horn.

I also play two studies on the horn and Sweet Georgia Brown.

I believe bell forwards and even Sousaphones still have a place especially in huge rooms, vintage stages with high roofs, and especially playing outdoors.

BBb horns are also being reconsidered in Orchestras when one thinks of martial or compositions calling for a military style band because of their brighter sound.
