STAR TREK & Planet of the Apes: Camping on another world at Trona Pinnacles filming locations

Star Trek V filming locations? Planet of the Apes filming locations!? Sleeping in the CAR!?? Things definitely didn't go according to plan...

On today's episode of Randomland...
We head north to take care of an errand, and when things go awry we land on another PLANET! Welcome to the Trona Pinnacles, a National Natural Landmark. Made up of over 500 spires of strange rock called tufa (see below for more) - This otherworldly landscape has fascinated generations of visitors and filmmakers with its unmatched views and strange formations. They filmed everything from Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, to Tim Burton's 2001 Planet of the Apes (The Mark Wahlberg one) to Westworld and Lost in Space... and even a Rihanna music video out here at the Trona Pinnacles.

On the way here we experienced the legendary Fish Rocks (GPS 35°40'00.3"N 117°25'41.6"W ) and Elmer Long's Bottle Tree Ranch. The Bottle Tree Ranch is located on old Route 66 at 24266 National Trails Hwy, Oro Grande, CA 92368
