The Raes were a married couple with Robbie Rae, born May 17, 1954 Resloven, Wales and Cherrill Yates born in Carlisle, Wales but moved as a child to St Thomas Ontario, Canada. When she turned 17 Cherrill returned to South Wales in the UK where her father had been born to start a musical career.

During one rehearsal she met Robbie Rae and she knew she met the man for her. One year later they married and formed The Raes.

Their next single "Sign On The Dotted Line" was issued later on the same year after they signed on the dotted line for A&M Records. Next was their disco version of Doris Day's "Que Sera Sera" and then a disco cover of Jay & The Americans "Cara Mia" attaining some success.

Ex Motown house producer Freddie Perren agreed to produce their next single, an original Perren-Fekaris tune they wrote called "A Little Lovin' (Keeps The Doctor Away) a bouncy disco tune that was tailor made for the couple. The song was released on on December 16, 1978, peaking at #11 in Canada, and #61 on the Hot100, but did much better on the US disco chart peaking at #5, a very respectable showing. The follow up "I Only Wanna Get Up & Dance" peaked at #12 pop in Canada, completely missing the Hot100 in the US. The disco chart was much kinder where it reached #47 and was their final charting song.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation offered the couple a five year contract to star and develop their own variety show titled "The Raes" and their spectacular guest list included Sylvester, Grace Jones, Abba and Maxine Nightingale among so many others.
