Omakase is a Japanese word that means "to entrust." In the context of sushi, omakase is a meal where the chef selects the dishes for you based on their expertise and the freshest ingredients available. Omakase is a unique and special dining experience that allows you to experience the full range of the chef's creativity and skill.

Sushi Master Jiro:

One of the most famous omakase chefs in the world is Jiro Ono. Jiro is a master sushi chef who has been serving omakase for over 70 years. His restaurant, Sukiyabashi Jiro, is located in a Tokyo subway station and has been awarded three Michelin stars. Jiro is known for his perfectionism and his dedication to his craft. He is also known for his strict training methods, which have produced some of the best sushi chefs in the world.

The first time I learned Omakase was when I watched the documentary “Jiro Dreams of Sushi” in Netflix. This documentary profiles sushi chef Jiro Ono, an 85-year-old master whose 10-seat, $300-a-plate restaurant is legendary among Tokyo foodies.

We had our first Omakase experience at No Relation in Boston, a nine-seat, secret sushi restaurant nestled within Shore Leave.

We made our reservation two weeks earlier. Just remember, you will need to pay your meal while making the reservation and tickets are non-refundable within seven ays of your reservation.
