In this video we will synthesize an airplane 'turbulent whoosh' sound, sometimes heard at airports and by passing aircraft. The sound emits from the engine / turbofan exhaust, and causes a strongly modulated sound. In addition to the turbulence, there is ringing heard from the engines.

Here I guide you through the DAW Channel Strip Inserts and Tone Generator, behind the scenes of Radical Realm music - Aviator Pt.1. Noise sources can include both White Noise and Pink Noise. We will look at Chorus effects to create phasing sounds, as well as Granular synthesis effects, such as Absynth's Aetherizer.
