The 1990 Jaguar Sovereign | Motoring TV Classics

It was 31 years ago when I drove the Jaguar Sovereign.
Being a Brit, I always fancied driving a Jaguar — a modern Inspector Morse, if you like. At that time it had a certain cache that was missing from it German counterparts. Time has told a very different story. Looking back, it had lame handling, mediocre power and it liked to rest in the workshop more than it should have done — it was a Fix Or Repair Daily type of drive. Sadly, early Fords had already garnered that acronym! I still think the style is timeless, but I sure can live without the headache of nursing a daily driver. I guess hindsight really is 20/20!
