Big names and diverse designs at RMIT Brunswick Fashion Runway

A bridal gown covered in perspex spikes, a pastel blue frock coat with lots of pink tulle and custom made footwear featured on the Runway at RMIT’s Open Day.

Students, graduates and alumni from all of RMIT’s Fashion and Textiles programs displayed their work in two parades including a

*clever laser cut floral design from graduate Jaimie Owen,
* reinventions of the classic shirt dress created for a project with brand The Ark, and
* outfits in chocolate, white and bronze colours from graduate Amber Reese – whose work was recently showcased at London Fashion Week.

This event allowed students to work directly with industry professionals, giving them the opportunity to better understand how industry works, and the pace and processes involved.

Fashion and Textiles students are incredibly fortunate to be working with a range of industry leaders – including Chadwicks Models, MAC Cosmetics and Matrix Hair – who have provided professional models and hair and make-up artists.

The show featured jewellery designed by Master of Fashion Entrepreneurship student Claire Quirk, under her label Clan Collection.

Other support has come from Jeans West, Siren Shoes and Croft Shoes.
