Although Erhai Lake is called "sea", it is actually a lake. The Huanhai Road around Erhai Lake is the must drive highway for sightseeing of Erhai Lake.
Erhai Lake was called Kunming Lake, Erhe River, Yeyuze and so on in ancient times. Located in Dali City, Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. Generally, the lake has an area of about 246 square kilometers and a water storage capacity of about 2.95 billion cubic meters. Great Lakes ranks seventh among freshwater lakes in China. Erhai Lake was formed at the end of the Ice Age, mainly due to subsidence and erosion. It is a fault-depressed plateau lake with an altitude of 1972 meters.
