► THIS VIDEO will take you on an informative journey through the intricate network of arteries and veins that supply and drain the heart. 🫀💡 Prepare to dive deep into the fascinating world of cardiac anatomy and understand how these vital pathways keep our hearts pumping. 🏥❤️
We'll start by exploring the coronary arteries, the heart's own blood supply system. It's easy to forget that the heart, too, needs its arteries, and we'll discover the coronary arteries responsible for nourishing this muscular organ. 🚀🫀
The video introduces you to the left and right coronary ostia, the openings above the aortic valve. From the left coronary ostium arises the left main coronary artery, while the right coronary ostium feeds the right coronary artery. 🌟🔴 On rare occasions, both sides can contribute to the blood supply, making it codominant.
Moving on, we'll delve into the branches of the right coronary artery, such as the right or acute marginal artery. We'll also explore the posterior descending artery formed by the right coronary artery, which, when dominant, defines a "right dominant" heart. 🎯🚧
Next, we'll shift our focus to the left side and the left coronary artery. We'll observe the left main coronary artery, which quickly branches into the anterior interventricular artery (LAD) and the circumflex artery. These arteries play a crucial role in supplying the left ventricle and surrounding areas. 💪🌈
We'll discuss branches like the diagonal branches and the left or obtuse marginal artery and their significance in clinical contexts. The left ventricle's importance as the heart's primary pump will become evident during this segment. 💼🫁
Now, let's explore the cardiac veins responsible for draining the heart. These veins transport deoxygenated blood away from the heart muscle. We'll begin with the anterior cardiac veins, which have a unique path, bypassing the coronary sinus and emptying directly into the right atrium. 🏞️🌅
We'll also uncover the small cardiac vein and its association with the coronary sinus, the main vein collecting most cardiac venous blood. The posterior vein of the left ventricle and the middle cardiac vein will be introduced, shedding light on their vital roles in cardiac drainage. 🌊🌒
Lastly, we'll unveil the "Great" cardiac vein, located on the left side and aptly named for its substantial contribution to venous drainage. As we explore its path and connection to the coronary sinus, the significance of its size becomes clear. 🌟💧
