Every bird hunter knows the best time to chase birds is right after the first snow. Snow exposes fresh tracks, and keeps birds in cover. The common occurrence on this hunt, was finding increasing numbers of tracks before flushing a tight holding group of roosters. We actually started this day with our last duck hunt of the season. But after a couple hours of seeing no ducks, we all knew we’d rather be pheasant hunting in the fresh snow. A necessary change of plans.
