Alexia Presents “Cypriote” at the Kennedy Center as Part of the Official Cultural Program of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2026
Washington, D.C. — March 20, 2026, 6:00 PM — As part of the official cultural program of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2026, internationally acclaimed and award-winning artist Alexia presents “Cypriote”, a Live Arts thematic music performance celebrating and elevating Cyprus’ rich cultural heritage and vibrant contemporary expression. The performance will take place at the Kennedy Center's Terrace Theater, within the iconic John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 6:00 PM.
“Cypriote” is an evocative musical journey through the island’s multilayered identity. Through a thoughtfully curated selection of songs and storytelling, Alexia draws inspiration from Cypriot antiquities, language, dialect, and collective memory. The performance explores themes of heritage, belonging, and cultural continuity, offering audiences a deeply personal yet universally resonant artistic experience.
Renowned for her distinctive sound and expressive artistry, Alexia brings together diverse musical influences — Jazz, Classical, World Music, Traditional forms, and Improvisation — weaving them into a cohesive and compelling narrative. Through her feminine perspective and global sensibility, she bridges Cyprus’ ancient past with its dynamic present, positioning the island’s culture within an international dialogue.
Presented in Washington, D.C., “Cypriote” highlights Cyprus’ cultural voice on a world stage during its Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2026, underscoring the nation’s commitment to artistic excellence and intercultural exchange.
The event is free and open to the public, with both in-person attendance and livestream access available. Ticket Reservations at Kennedy-Center.org.
