In 2024, the Philippine government, through the office of the Department of Tourism, sets an ambitious target of welcoming 7.7 million international visitors to our shores.

However, some Filipinos met this announcement with skepticism. Some doubted the feasibility of such a high-reaching goal, while others criticized the administration and the Department of Tourism, claiming they lacked the capability to achieve it. The 7.7 million target seemed like an impossible dream to many.
