Follow me into the landscape of Middle Earth, photographing the abandoned Dorothea Slate Quarry, which could easily be mistaken for a film set from the Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit.

Dorothea Quarry is a disused slate quarry in the Nantlle Valley, North Wales. Opened in the 1820s, it was in operation until 1970. Abandoned for over 50 years, nature has reclaimed its ownership with trees growing within and around the slate buildings.

I also visit Diffwys Slate Quarry, located in the slate town of Blaneau Ffestiniog.
