Unreasonable Grackles - When the seeds in the feeder get low these characters get kind of crazy.
They strut and squawk with an air of entitlement, as if the feeder belongs solely to them. Their antics grow even wilder as the handful of seeds dwindle, making each moment a noisy spectacle. I watch them, amused and slightly exasperated, marveling at how such small birds can bring so much chaos to a late morning.
They seem to revel in the commotion, hopping and darting with reckless abandon; feathers ruffled and wings flashing as they jockey for position. Even when the doves gather quietly beneath the feeder, the grackles are relentless, pushing forward and claiming every scrap with determined persistence. The whole scene feels like a tiny, feathery drama unfolding right outside in full view, full of attitude and vivid color, turning an ordinary day into something unexpectedly entertaining.
The squabbles on the feeder do create some spectacular blue iridescent colors in the grackles’ wings and body as they flail around at each opportunity. As they compete for dominance, they still have the time to shoot me some dirty looks for my rude intrusions. No since of humor these rascals.
