On Saturday, we headed North to Alma for the Curwood Highlander Excursion pulled by Pere Marquette 1225. The SRI was doing something different this time. Instead of leaving from Owosso and heading North, they did the opposite, for the purpose of allowing the passengers to tour Owosso. This arrangement allowed folks to get some Southbound shots that aren't too common. Upon arrival in Owosso, we arrived on the SRI grounds too late to see the 1225 on the turntable (They did it right after arrival. Which was excellent, because it eliminated foamer crowding), but in time to see them switch the consist. The 1225 would be pulling both ways, which is also quite a rarity. During the 5 hour layover, after watching some switching, we headed to Durand and ended up with nothing. The great part about staying until the return trip is that foamer traffic was reduced by 75%. I believe the 1225 had some issues, because they came to a near stop at one point and I could hear the diesel pushing for a small bit. No matter, the SRI did a great job once again.
