It always starts punctually at 11 pm: the big fireworks display lights up the sky over Düsseldorf as the highlight of Japan Day. As always, fireworks master Hideki Kubota was responsible for all displays shown in this video. Hideki Kubota is a renowned Japanese pyrotechnician whose artistry has captivated audiences in Düsseldorf for years. Kubota's fireworks are known for their meticulous design and synchronization, often reflecting themes from Japanese culture and nature.
In 2023, his display, titled "Die japanischen Jahreszeiten am Düsseldorfer Nachthimmel" ("The Japanese Seasons in the Düsseldorf Night Sky"), showcased a 25-minute sequence that drew inspiration from the changing seasons in Japan. The 2024 show, "Goldmedaillen und Goldregen über Düsseldorf: Olympischer Glanz von Tokio bis Paris" ("Gold Medals and Golden Rain over Düsseldorf: Olympic Splendor from Tokyo to Paris"), celebrated the spirit of the Olympics with dazzling visuals that mirrored the achievements of athletes from Tokyo to Paris. Kubota's collaboration with German pyrotechnician Martin Schmitz of NICO Feuerwerke ensures a seamless blend of Japanese tradition and German precision, resulting in a fireworks display that is both a technical marvel and a cultural homage.

Japan Tag is an annual celebration that showcases Japan’s rich cultural heritage with traditional music and dance, cosplay and karaoke contests, manga and anime booths, origami and calligraphy workshops, and kimono fittings. Rain or shine, the event continues to offer an immersive cultural experience for all generations.
