Congressional Democrats continue writing the text for the $1.75 trillion reconciliation bill, which contains much of President Joe Biden's economic agenda. As progressives and moderates argue over its scope and price tag, Senator Joe Manchin is making news again, as he demands more accountability. The Catholic senator is putting another wrench in the Democrats agenda to get a vote on the reconciliation bill. He wants lawmakers to slow down, and look at the financial impact this bill could have on the US economy. Senator Manchin says, "I will not support a bill that is this consequential without thoroughly understanding the impact it will have on the national debt, our economy and the American people." One option is to have the non-partisan congressional budget office score the bill for the final costs and impact, which could take weeks. Congresswoman Cori Bush criticized Machin saying his "opposition to the Build Back Better Act is anti-Black, anti-child, anti-woman, and anti-immigrant." As for the $1.2 trillion bi-partisan infrastructure bill that deals with roads and bridges, progressives say they want guarantees of what's in the larger social spending bill first. The congressional budget office estimates the true infrastructure bill would add $256 billion to the deficit. Capitol Hill Correspondent, Erik Rosales reports.
