Program note:
In the Dark Hour was written in response to the influx of gun violence in the United States over the past decade – in particular, the school shootings in Sandy Hook, Uvalde, and Nashville where, collectively, 42 elementary school students were murdered. American citizens are being held hostage in a "dark hour" of fear and uncertainly by lawmakers who refuse to enact any policy change to prevent this type of tragedy from occurring again. This work is written with hope that this hour will soon pass.
