Today we’ll compare servers based on comments left on my channel, population distribution, and for the servers I’ve played on, my own experience. There are a lot of servers, so if we miss yours I’m sorry, but I have quite a few here across most the regions to compare. If you’ve been wondering which realm to use your character boost on, or which realm to go on to avoid streamers, or long queue times, this video hopefully will help you make an informed decision. Keep in mind the faction distribution graphs I post are based off the Population of active raiders, not including non-raiding or non-logging characters.
First up is Benediction, also known as the last bastion of alliance PvP servers. This realm based on ironforge.pro is a 55% alliance, 45% horde server. It’s a US East High Population PvP server and with that distribution of horde and alliance, sounds like a great server. Especially since through my research I’ve found that most PvP servers trend to be horde dominated in terms of population. When it comes to queues, even now when WoW hype is not at it’s highest it has a high population, so I would expect queue times for this server when TBC Classic launches.
Next is Mankrik a “Normal” or “PvE” server. This server also stands out of the crowd because it is a PvE server that is Horde dominated, which is unusal. There’s about 80% horde to 20% alliance, and this server is also a high population server on US East. A general comment about PvE servers is that there’s been quite a bit of sentiment about enjoying PvE servers, which I agree with. Some people regret rolling on a PvP server because of being ganked, and PvE server players seem to be very happy with rolling on those servers so you can level, fish, and farm in peace.
Alright let’s talk Grobbulus. Also known as the Grob Mob. Grobbulus is the only High Population RP PVP server across all regions, and based on the comments has a passionate playerbase. It is a US West server, and has a 55% alliance and 45% horde split. Sounds like the go-to for RP PvP and generally a fun server to be on because of the faction balance.
Now I have to bring up this next server because it is so odd, and a bit infamous. It’s a German server with server balance as bad as it gets. At 100% horde Lucifron is a PvP server that apparently gets tourists who want to see the shocking faction imbalance. You’d be hard pressed to find an alliance player after The Great Exodus of alliance players leaving the server. I guess you’d want to avoid this one as an alliance player.
Next is Pyrewood Village. It’s a PvE server in the EU with a 76% alliance mix and 24% horde, as is typical for a PvE server. Nothing too out of the ordinary here, but a great example of how most PvE servers are Alliance dominated.
Next up is Sulfuras, a popular server amongst the comment section. This US East PvP server has a high population and a 43% alliance and 57% horde split – which isn’t bad. Based on the comments the server appears to be lively and getting a dungeon while leveling is possible, which can’t be said for all servers. With a high population server you’ll usually get an inflated economy, which in my opinion is great for fresh toons – easy mount at 40 and 60 since the items you get will sell for a lot on the AH, and the costs for mounts & spells remains un-inflated.
Now if you saw one of the comments mentioned Herod, this server was my choice for Classic Vanilla launch and my main server. I can say with confidence that it’s a Horde dominated PvP server where phase 2 was nearly unplayable as Alliance. Lots of alliance have left, but there’s still enough that the server runs fine and you can raid. Battleground Queues are fine for alliance at 1-5 minutes – I can’t speak for Horde but I imagine they are long. However, at this time getting low level groups is nearly impossible, as this server population is actually at Medium right now, even though during launch it was High and had very long queue times. Ironforge.pro says it’s 28% Alliance and 72% Horde which I’d tend to agree with, even though sometimes it feels even more lopsided.
The other server I play on is Faerlina.
