On 17 October our Centre for Unusual Collaborations (CUCo) hosted an online lunch & learn lecture themed “Knowledge integration in interdisciplinary research”.
In inter- and transdisciplinary research, the ultimate aim is to bring together knowledge from different fields and domains. But what is it and how does this integration actually happen? Is it a mysterious black box, or are there ways to better understand and guide the process?

Anke de Vrieze, Learning & Knowledge Adviser at CUCo, introduced CUCo's work. Annemarie Horn, Assistant Professor in Inter- and Transdisciplinary Research and Education (UU), then dived into what knowledge integration could be and if there are tools to better understand and enable processes of knowledge integration. Sylvia Brugman, Associate Professor Host-Microbe Interactomics at Wageningen University & Research, shared valuable real-world insights from their learning journey and outcomes achieved as part of the CUCo-funded team IPOP - NL - Interdisciplinairy Pain Research Platform.
