Meet the Star King, the protector of Underworld. Not much is known about the fabled Star King and his Queen outside of Underworld. In fact, the existence of the Star King is only known by two people in the real world.

The Star King's exploits, including the unification of Underworld, the advancement of technology, the repelling of the Abyssal Horror, and eventually conquering other planets and stars, are well known by the populace of Underworld, yet few people know the person himself. An entire thirty years before the end of their 200 years of being trapped in Underworld, the Star King and Star Queen left the public's eye. What's more, even the names of the Star King and Queen were erased from history, supposedly out of fear that self-proclaimed relatives or descendants of theirs would start coming up and create chaos in the Underworlder government.

Even the Commander of the Integrity Pilots, Eolyne Herlentz, was sceptical about Kirito being the Star King. And he was not exactly wrong. The Star King was the persona Kirito had become after living 200 years stuck in Underworld, yet his memories of those years were sealed away as per his request after awakening on the Ocean Turtle. Although sealing memories does not actually guarantee that they are gone forever, it seemed like the Star King no longer existed inside the boy, despite the fact that he still had memory relapses he could not make any sense of at times. For all intents and purposes, Kirito was no longer the fabled Star King.

However, that's not to say that the Star King was gone entirely. Before the boy's memories could be sealed, a copy of his Fluctlight with his centuries worth of memories was secretly created by Higa Takeru.. Unlike any other Fluctlight copy Rath ever generated from their staff, the Star King showed no signs of mental decay, despite being fully aware that he was just a mere copy of the original man. Speaking gently but with a steel edge, he had a single declaration to make. That he would fight only for Underworld. Going after the help of Kayaba Akihiko, the Star King had a goal to pursue. The insignia of the two swords enveloped by roses and osmanthuses would live on… for now. [will show the insignia from AW novels here] And while the future is not yet set in stone, we may eventually see the Star King face his former self one day in a clash of ideals.
