Sir John Spencer was a businessman, sheep farmer, sheriff and politician who was knighted by Henry VIII in 1519. Most importantly, he bought the farmland around Althorp and then built @althorphouse in 1508. He died on 14 April 1522— 501 years ago. In this episode, we pay tribute to the founder of the Spencer Family.
