We did a Legacybox order a few months ago for Mom and I found this old video tucked into the family movies. At this time I'd been racing for three years off-and-on and had gotten reasonably fast, but there were no decent videos of my riding a bicycle. My father was big into sports but turned a blind eye to cycling. He often asked me,

"Why do you do that?"

So while as a teen I desperately wanted Dad's approval, when I found I could do this, he didn't care.
But I thought since my brother had a video camera, when I was visiting on my leave from the military, it would be fun to get some good videos of me riding.

Nope--he didn't want to do that either--some sibling rivalry seeping through. Eventually he said,

"Why don't you just ride by the driveway?"

But the funniest part is the first two seconds of the video when he says,

"You don't have to go very fast."

I didn't listen. My best year competing, 2001, there are no videos or photos of me racing. But I found this blast from the past--look how skinny I was!
