Casco Viejo (Spanish for Old Quarter), also known as Casco Antiguo or San Felipe, is the historic district of Panama City. It was completed and settled in 1673 following the near-total destruction of the original Panamá city, Panamá Viejo in 1671, when it was was attacked by the famous Captain Morgan's pirates. Now, Casco Viejo has beautiful architecture, fabulous restaurants with rooftop bars, and trendy hotels and apartments.

It was designated a World Heritage Site in 1997

Casco Viejo is the old city’s heart, popular for its lively dining and nightlife scene. Cocktail lounges, and global restaurants line streets decorated with elaborate murals. Colonial-era landmarks include the twin-towered Metropolitan Cathedral and the waterfront Palacio de las Garzas presidential home.
