This incredible relief print is from the ornate inlay of an ancient Chinese Han Dynasty Chariot Pole! This print detail was taken from an exquisitely inlaid cylinder (made from silver, bronze and gold) from a section of a pole which held a chariot’s canopy aloft. It was recovered from the tomb of King of Nanyue in Guangzhou in the Guangdong province in China. Chariots of this detail and beauty were found mostly in the tombs of noble princes, rulers & high-ranking officials. This piece is from the Western Han Period (206 BC–220 AD).
