KOREAN WAR VETERANS MEMORIAL: WASHINGTON, D.C. (4K)

Описание к видео KOREAN WAR VETERANS MEMORIAL: WASHINGTON, D.C. (4K)

The Korean War Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. commemorates the Korean War, also known as the "Forgotten War," because at the time, the conflict was censored and the war was overshadowed by WWII and the Vietnam War. The war lasted from 1950-1953 and was started when North Korea invaded South Korea. Chinese troops (and the Soviet Union) supported the North and U.S. troops (and other countries) supported South Korea. The U.S. lost over 36,000 soldiers in the war, with 8,200 missing and over 100,000 wounded. This memorial, unveiled in 1995, features 19 U.S. soldiers representing four branches of the military. They represent a combat platoon on patrol. The Mural Wall features scenes from the war.
