Here’s some extra info:
1. Because of all of this they have slowed down my reach to my subscribers and having a broader reach on youtube. I have twice as many subscribers on youtube than I did when I put out my last special yet my views significantly slowed down after the notice. This has limited my ability to grow my fanbase and have my work shown. All because of one joke where I call my cat the C word.
2. I bleeped the word after the notice to see if I could get my ads back, but YouTube says you only get one human review and there is no way to get your ads back. No exception. My 100k+ followers and videos with millions of views doesn’t grant any loyalty or help.
3. Being flagged for hate speech means you get limited ads. (and in some cases no ads) Limited ads means most ad companies don’t wanna be associated with your video because they are being told it has hate speech (and given 0 context) so there are less ad opportunities for your video. This means often where ads should play nothing is played. So I have a few weird ads but I’m making significantly less revenue.
4. Youtube just updated their monetizing terms to be more clear on April 24th giving examples of words that aren’t acceptable regardless of context BUT the C word still isn’t listed and this is way after its happened to several comics and we have complained. This update is good and will help future specials and comedians but obviously not mine or my friends that have already been affected.

I love the joke that got me flagged and I chose the language purposefully and playfully. If I had known it was an issue I would have bleeped it before I posted it. I’m fine with bleeping. I’m not ok with punishing people’s ability to make a living and grow because of arbitrary rules that are unclear and then have no course to correct them. All I want is to write jokes and perform them. I’m so so grateful I can do that and as we all know live shows are better. :) Please watch MURDER SHEETS and send to friends and come see a live show!
