Kate lay on the bed, gazing at the ceiling, her body partially covered by a sheet and a soft smile gracing her lips. She was content with her life and yearned to share this joy with the world. She loved her husband dearly, but she always held back her emotions around him, as he disapproved of excessive displays of them.
Turning her head, Kate looked at her husband. His attention was fixated on a painting hanging across the room, deep in thought. She affectionately asked, "What are you thinking about, my love?"
Caught off guard, Damian shrugged and answered absent-mindedly, "Oh, nothing really."
However, Kate could tell he was troubled by something. She got closer to him and rested her head on his chest. "I can tell you're thinking about something! Won't you tell me?"
Damian sighed. His wife was persistent, and he knew she wouldn't stop until he responded. He glanced at her, then back at the painting, before speaking slowly:
"I think we need a bigger apartment."
Kate immediately straightened up and looked him in the eyes. She was taken aback. They had discussed this a year ago, but Damian had been against it. Their current apartment suited them perfectly, so why the need for a new one? Of course, Kate hinted that it would be time for them to have children already, but her husband was not yet ready.
"Do you really mean it, Damian? Are you serious?" Kate asked, hopeful.
Damian shrugged his shoulders. "I'm not a fool. I understand everything! Yes, I think it's time for us to think about expanding our living space, given the planned changes. But please, no childish talk until we sort out the apartment."
Kate snuggled up to her husband again and showered him with kisses.
"No, no, I promise, no baby talk," she assured.
Damian sighed and smiled faintly. Hie saw that Kate could barely contain her excitement. It was quite obvious. If Damian had let her, she would have screamed with joy, run around the house and jumped on the bed! However, he deliberately did not allow her to express her feelings. He liked to control her. He felt important in her life as long as she obeyed. He kissed her on the forehead and replied:
"Let's go to sleep." We'll discuss everything later. This weekend we'll talk about it and come up with a plan. Good night, dear!"
