1966 D reg, Original factory GT with the optional Rally pack and A Code 289 V8. Finished in Ivy Green with contrasting Ivy Gold pony interior. Factory air con (not connected) , Radio. Rally wheels and new tyres, Original handbook. Edelbrock carb, Electronic ignition, high lift cam, Aluminium radiator. New suspension bushes, gas shocks and front progressive springs. I imported this fantastic Ford Mustang in the summer of 2015 and she is absolutely stunning. I found her with a Mustang specialist in New Jersey and bought her on the spot. Her colour scheme is what originally drew me to her I just love it. I tweeted about her when she arrived and even Quentin Wilson re tweeted her to all his followers as did Jonny Smith from 5th Gear. She is a real deal GT A Code with the factory Rally pack so is the US equivalent of an original Escort RS with an X Pack.
Unlike the Escort she is fitted with a 289 cui V8 that sounds absolutely amazing. When she arrived her handling was typically American and a bit wayward. Parts are readily available and so cheap it’s positively hilarious. I promptly fitted new gas shocks (£100 for 4) poly bushes to tighten everything up and progressive front springs. She now rides as smooth as silk but more importantly at 70mph she drives in a straight line. She had already had a Edelbrock carb with a modern electric choke fitted and an aluminium radiator so I have fitted a pertronix electronic iginition that is hidden in the original distributor so she is now reliable and useable on long journeys or just for a run to the shops. She is highly original other than having a new paint job which was done in the states before I bought her. Her interior is totally originally and was my main reason for buying the car. There is a wear patch on the top of the driver’s door where the previous owners arm has sat while he cruised down the road. I love this as it’s part of the character of the car and gives it real charm along with the paint flake on the original rally pack dials. Obviously these could be painted but then she would just be another restored Mustang. She turns heads where ever you drive and people just smile as you cruise by. I even took her to a Ferrari owners club picnic where she got more attention than any of the Ferrari’s there. She really is a fantastic car in such original condition. A real investment that you can enjoy.
