Bupa Great Manchester Run 2014

http://www.greatrun.org/ Ethiopian Kenenisa Bekele pulled clear to claim victory in 28 minutes 23 seconds, finishing five seconds ahead of Wilson Kipsang. Stephen Mokoka finished 43 seconds behind the Kenyan, taking third place in 29 minutes 11 seconds.

The first Briton home was Morpeth Harrier Nick McCormick. The 2012 Olympian was with the lead group in the early stages and finished sixth in 29 minutes 10 seconds.

Tirunesh Dibaba predictably proved a cut above the rest of the field in the women's race. She led almost from gun to tape, winning in 31 minutes 09 seconds with Britain's Gemma Steel second.

Cumbrian Simon Lawson won the men's wheelchair race for the third year, clocking 22 minutes 35 seconds, while Lincolnshire lass Liz McTernan won the women's section in 37:35.
