Where is Deathgaze in the Final Fantasy VI Pixel Remaster, and how do you get the Bahamut magicite to learn Flare? But here's what you need to know.

1. The location is random every time you begin navigation of the airship. If you land or even just view your party, Deathgaze moves. Just look for a black orb locating the encounter.

1a. PRO TIP - Point yourself at a slight angle and just circumnavigate the map (meaning fly straight and wrap around). Eventually you'll find it as you cover more and more ground.

1b. Note that in older consoles like the SNES, this circumnavigation is really the ONLY way to find Deathgaze (then called Doomgaze in what was FF3 in the US) as there is no visual cue for the encounter. It just happens when you run into the invisible spawn point.

2. Deathgaze runs away from you, but never heals. So as long as you keep dealing damage and finding it again, you will eventually succeed.

3. I recommend level 30-ish. Just make sure you're not exactly 30 or you get hit by Level 5 Doom!

4. Related, if you have Strago in your party you can learn that Doom spell as well as Aero -- a costly but powerful spell, and one of the few wind magics in the Final Fantasy VI Pixel Remaster.

5. The Bahamut esper offers not just a powerful Mega Flare attack and the ability for your characters to learn Flare, you can also snag +50% HP at level up if you have the magicite equipped.
