“We need to work harder…” EAM Jaishankar concerns about ‘gaps’ between India-Japan relations

External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar stated that India aims to increase trade with Japan to 5 trillion yen by 2027 and is currently halfway to achieving this target. He emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between the two nations in light of shifting global economic dynamics, highlighting that their strategic interests align closely.
EAM Dr S Jaishankar said, “I agree there is scope to increase trade with Japan. Our target is 5 trillion yen by 2027. We are halfway to the target. With the change in geo-economics, we have to work harder with Japan... The strategic people in Japan also understand that they have to work with India and our interests are very similar.”
