When you're saddling your mule or donkey you need to remember it's not a horse and the tack you bought for your horse is not meant for your mule or donkey.

People call me all the time asking if they can purchase just the saddle because they have horse tack they already own.

The way I've designed my saddle is to work in harmony with the breeching, breast collar, and cinches. Talking specifically about the cinches, your cinches will be on an area of the mule or donkey belly where you want moist for lubrication as well as sweat to cool.

Cinch sores are easy to get - especially in the desert where I live. I discovered that perforated neoprene facilitated sweat production and allowed airflow - it is like a big cooler on the belly.

In addition, I put elastic in the cinch so that it expands and contracts with the animal. It's incredibly durable and very easy to clean. Dirty and unmaintained cinches will create cinch sores.
