GARDEN ROUTE, SOUTH AFRICA: BIRDS OF EDEN - a walk through the world's largest free-flight aviary.

Описание к видео GARDEN ROUTE, SOUTH AFRICA: BIRDS OF EDEN - a walk through the world's largest free-flight aviary.

Birds of Eden near Plettenberg Bay in South Africa's beautiful coastal Garden Route is the world's largest free-flight aviary.

The aviary was created to re-home unwanted birds and also takes in injured birds and unwanted birds from time to time to rehabilitate them and gives them the opportunity to live in a natural setting of gorgeous, indigenous forest.

Some 3500 birds make their home here, including colorful Turacos and Parrots. The sanctuary covers more than 2 hectares (close to 5 acres - apologies for the error/ 21.761 m and 375.372 cubic meters). The frame structure has 28 masts and 100 km of cable holding up wire mesh. The highest mast is 34 meters tall.

Guests can walk on wooden pathways through the sanctuary and marvel at birds from a suspension bridge. There is a small restaurant and coffee shop at the end of the walk.

It really is a fun excursion for bird lovers or lovers of nature.
