Polar Bear Moms and Cubs: From the Den to the Sea Ice

Описание к видео Polar Bear Moms and Cubs: From the Den to the Sea Ice

Each year, around January 1st, polar bear moms give birth to tiny helpless cubs in a snow den. They spend several months snuggled up while mom nurses her fast growing cubs until they are big and strong enough for a life in the Arctic.

In springtime, a mother polar bear emerges from her den with her newborn cub or cubs. She and her cubs will stay at their den for a few days or weeks, giving the cubs a chance to play, explore, and strengthen their legs.

Once a mother feels her cubs are ready, they'll begin their adventure on the sea ice. There, the mother mother polar bear will begin teaching her young cubs not only how to hunt, but how to survive in the Arctic.
