ABOUT EMM ALI
Emm Ali, meaning “Mother of Ali” in Arabic, is named after Layla, who was born in 1966 in the bustling town of Meryata in North Lebanon. Layla, or Emm Ali as she is fondly known, is the proud mother of nine children. At the age of 32, she dreamed of owning a farm, and with the support of her husband, they made this dream come true. The family moved to the farm, and through sheer hard work and perseverance, they achieved financial stability by producing and selling their own dairy products.
Despite facing numerous challenges, Emm Ali and her husband became well-known for the quality and freshness of their ingredients. Layla balanced her family life, house chores, and farm duties with grace, always ensuring that her children had a bright future. Her children lovingly describe her as a “happy and young soul,” whose positive and energetic spirit filled their home with warmth and optimism.
Layla’s passion for food was evident in every meal she prepared. She was always in the kitchen, perfecting traditional dishes and creating new, innovative recipes. Her love for cooking and her dedication to quality ingredients have been the cornerstone of Emm Ali’s success.
Emm Ali was brought to life in Sydney by her son Omar, who wanted to share his mother’s legacy with the local community. With the help of Layla and his sister Sarah, Omar introduced Sydney to the now-famous ‘Rez bhalib’—a dish that evokes nostalgia and transports you to the comfort of a mother’s kitchen.
