APPLICATION PROCESS FOR EXPANSION JOINTS WATERPROOFING TREATMENT
1. Clean the surface thoroughly by using mechanical tools and high pressure water jet.
2. Repair the damaged edges/surfaces using cement tile adhesive to maintain the uniform gap and depth of expansion joint. Cure it for 3 days.
3. Cut and prepare the membrane considering 150 mm wide on both sides of expansion joint.
4. Prepare thick paste of good quality cement tile adhesive by using mechanical stirrer.
5. Well saturate the surface by spreading water before start of application.
6. Spread the cement tile adhesive paste 3 to 5 mm thick by using notched combed shape steel blade.
7. Fix the membrane over cement tile adhesive keeping some fold in the expansion joint gap and press it well using wooden float.
8. Ensure no air gap remains below the membrane.
9. Lay dry the Baker rod in the folded portion keeping half portion below and half above the level of expansion joint.
10. Fix second layer of membrane over the first layer by using same cement tile adhesive and press it well and let cure and set for 3 days.
11. Take pond taste by storing water for at least 7 days.
12. To protect it from damage Lay 75 mm concrete screed or fix the tiles over the membrane with proper slope, keeping grove over the expansion joint.
