This is a great synth-pop track from the Human League called the Lebanon, released in 1984. Although it is a heavier sound than previously with a great bass intro and some great guitar riffs and was from their album Hysteria.

I’ve covered an earlier track of the Human League from their very early days, called A Crow and a Baby, but this is the revamped version led by Phil Oakey and whilst being a much more pop orientated band this is a track with meaning. The band started in Sheffield in 1977, but a couple of original members left and went on to form Heaven 17, I’ve covered one of their early tracks as well.

I think it’s worth pointing out that a very influential member of the band and co-writer of this song is Jo Callis.

The song is to bring focus onto Lebanon and the civil war that was taking place and the massacres that were seen.
