Sustainable fashion has a vegan fashion wool alternative I bet you’ve never heard of. This sustainable textile is called Kapok. Basically it’s a giant cotton tree, except that instead of getting a crop from the plant every year, you only get fiber about once every seven years.

The fiber is a great alternative to wool – but for a while, it’s been hard to use because the staple length (if you don’t remember what that is, scroll down) was too short – so creating yarns was kind of impossible.

But, new technologies now allow the Kapok to be blended with longer fibers to create higher quality yarns that can be used for textiles.
