Follow along on a quest to find a bounty of sounds unique to the PA Ren Faire. I first went as a castle and dragon loving kid, and October 2023 (when this video was filmed) was my first time back since then. Started in 1981, the fair takes place at the Mt. Hope estate, which is complete with its own storied history back to the 1700s. The PA Ren Faire has a variety of food and entertainment, and the jousting show can't be missed. And while this isn't sponsored, I think it's worth experiencing the fair yourself if you can.

I wrote and recorded the three pieces of music in the video, and it was a fun challenge to make some Renaissance-inspired music. It's made up in part from somewhat poor attempts to layer instruments I don't normally play like mandolin and cello, and recorded with more distant mic placement than I would normally use to try to make it feel more natural and "of the time" than a modern, beefed up form. It was a lot of fun!
