British band THE THE became one of the first bands in history to make a video album, way back in 1986. Armed with a surprisingly generous budget, and working with the likes of legendary pop promos director, Tim Pope, the band's Matt Johnson went on an epic trip across Peru, Bolivia, New York and the UK, resulting in a series of compelling videos for every track on THE THE's much lauded Infected album. Here's the story of how it was made, including interviews with Matt Johnson, Tim Pope and Tom Wilcox, associate curator of the ICA.
