Trossachs Osprey hide - A Long Day!

In this video I have booked myself a full day in the Trossachs osprey hide in Scotland a day I've been looking forward to for several months hoping to catch and photograph the Ospreys diving and catching trout.

I headed up to sterling the day before and stayed overnight as I had a 4:30 AM drive over to the hide in the Trossachs, the day started off dull grey and wet not what I was hoping for as the previous day was beautiful sunshine and according to the forecast the following day is also going to be sunshine but there you go you can't have it your own way of always.

The day started off full of promise with a grey Heron coming in and swallowing a whole trout a cormorant coming in and having battled with that route the goosanders swimming fast and swiftly under the water chasing the trout but unfortunately no osprey. I waited and waited and it wasn't until around 1:00 PM that I first caught sight of an osprey in the sky, unfortunately this one just flew by and was not seen again, it wasn't until around 2:30 that I saw more osprey flying high in the sky and circling, as they circled they started coming closer and closer to the ground it started to look promising the birds came in had a look but once again flew off with no attempts of catching a fish.

Unfortunately this seemed to be the theme of the day your ospray coming in flying around and flying off.

Still there were plenty of grey hair and around and the goosanders made for some fantastic photography and action as they chased that route around the pond.

Sad to say the day ended with no dives from the osprey just some aerial photographs of them flying past. Still this is a fantastic hide and has lots of potential it is only been running for a couple of years so it is still in its early days.
All in all it was a fantastic day in the hide and many thanks to Natalie for being a great host, and hopefully I will be back next year and this time be able to see the Ospreys diving for the fish.
