Betty Walker Waites Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to solving the hunger crisis and providing basic necessities to live in underprivileged communities in Dallas. I'm Katania Curtis, Founder and CEO As someone who has personally experienced the struggles of poverty, I understand the desperation and lack of resources that many families face. With 85% self-funding and 15% donations from our supporters, we provide essential food and prescribe eyeglasses to those in need. Our organization has grown significantly since its inception, with our recent success being the establishment of a food pantry at the Martin Weiss Recreation Center, serving hundreds of families. With an Elevate Together cash grant, we would be able to lease-to-own a box truck to increase our food distribution capacity and reach more underprivileged families every week. I believe that mentoring will help me refine my leadership skills, gain valuable insights from experienced mentors, and ultimately expand our impact in the community.
