Old hammers just have better steel. The Maydole Hammer Factory opened in 1845 and remained in the Maydole family until 1939 when Mayhew Tools purchased the company. I have had this broken 100 year old Maydole ball peen hammer around the shop for a while. Finally got around to removing the broken handle and fitting a new handle to the old hammer head. Follow a few simple steps and you can bring an old broken hammer back to 'like new' condition and ready to serve for another 100 years.
