The farmer protest is a topic of widespread discussion, with people wondering when it started, which states are involved, and what the farmers' demands are.

However, in this video, I provide detailed statistics and information about whether the government can fulfill the farmers' demands.

Unexpectedly, over 250 farmer unions have marched in Delhi, representing farmers from different parts of the country, all with various demands they want the government to meet.

One major demand is regarding the Minimum Support Price (MSP). Another significant demand is for pension provision for farmers above the age of 60, considering there are over 1.5 crore farmers in India in that age group. If the government agrees to these demands, it would incur an expenditure of 1.5 lakh crore rupees in just one month.

The guarantee of MSP, in particular, is a contentious issue. According to the government, ensuring MSP would cost around 10 lakh crore rupees annually, which is 25% of the annual budget allocated for infrastructure development.

Private companies are unlikely to buy wheat and paddy at MSP because they can source them more cheaply from countries like Argentina and Russia.

This raises the question of why farmers from Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh are protesting so actively. These states are major producers of wheat and paddy, and the MSP allotted to them is directly proportional to their production.

Year after year, the MSP has been increasing, putting a burden on the government and taxpayers. If a solution is not found, the country could face an economic crisis. Hence, the rejection of the government's proposal regarding pulses and maize/cotton by the farmers.
